Overview

At Vale of Evesham School, we aim to produce competent, confident, independent learners who are provided with the appropriate mathematical skills, understanding and experiences for their future.  Our maths motto is – “Maths is Everywhere”. Wherever you look in the world there is maths, and we aim to equip students with the knowledge, financial literacy and, more importantly, the skills to fully participate in our society at their level.

It is known as Thinking skills and Numeracy on the Semi-formal pathway, Thinking and Mathematics in EYFS and Maths on the Formal Pathway.

The maths curriculum at Vale of Evesham provides pupils with a Spiral Curriculum, that revisits, builds and broadens prior learning. Each time a topic is revisited it is studied a greater depth, and the level of challenge is increased. This enables pupils to rehearse and embed skills and knowledge to their long-term memory. Our aim is to lay a broad and secure foundation to enable our learners to apply their maths skills in problem-solving situations encountered every day, whilst making Mathematics enjoyable.

We use a scheme to support teaching and learning throughout the school, this is CanDoMaths. For those who it is appropriate they can also be entered for relevant Accreditation in Maths in Year 11.
