Bank Staff: Teaching Assistants  

Term time only   

£12.59 – £13.47 per hour

 

Are you looking for flexible work? Wanting to earn some extra money on the odd days you are free? Ever thought about covering Teaching Assistants that are off sick / on training?

As a Bank Staff member, you will be supporting children in our small classes with their daily routine at school including activities such as meal times and outdoor play. 

The children and young people you will be supporting have autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities or communication barriers. Depending on the needs of each pupil some will require support with personal care and / or moving and handling. You will be required to build rapport with the pupils and provide positive reinforcement to increase their confidence and self-esteem.  

Vale of Evesham School caters for 182 pupils aged 4 to 19 years, who have moderate, severe, and profound learning difficulties.  Many of our pupils have other barriers to their learning including autism, challenging behaviour, physical disabilities, and complex health needs. 

Applicants will need energy and enthusiasm, and the ability to work in a busy environment.  The work can be challenging but watching the progress of the pupils can also be extremely rewarding.

The successful candidate will:    

  • Be available from 9.00am to 3.00pm on any day between Monday and Friday
  • Be passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs. 
  • Have experience within a school, residential or similar setting supporting young people or adults.

Residential Child Care Assistant

32 hours per week

Term-time only + 5 training days

Permanent Contract

CLPT07 – CLPT11 £18,073 – £19,326 (FTE £24,294 – £25,979)

Vale of Evesham School is a Specialist School for Cognition and Learning, that caters for pupils who have moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties. Many of our pupils have other barriers to their learning including autism, challenging behaviour, physical disabilities and complex health needs.  The school also has a residential provision for weekly boarders where this role is based, which ensures that we offer a 24-hour curriculum for up to 15 pupils during term-time. 

We are currently looking for a Care Assistant to join our committed residential staff team in supporting our pupils before and after school. 

Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday evenings from 3.00pm to 10.00pm, depending on the day, and Tuesday to Friday mornings, from 7.30am to 9.00am.  

The post benefits from set shift patterns, with no weekend or bank holiday working required.  It is a term time only position, so you would not be required to work during school holidays. You would receive a paid annual leave entitlement of 26 days per annum (rising to 31 after 5 years service).  Occasional sleep-in duties may be required, for which an additional payment is made.

As a school we promote professional development and will offer ongoing training to the successful applicant, including achieving a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

Residential Child Care Officer

37 hours per week – Permanent position

Term time only + 5 training days

Scale CLPT15 – CLPT22 £27,803 – £31,364 FTE (£23,915 – £26,978 actual)

We are currently looking for Care Officers to join our committed residential staff team in supporting our pupils before and after school. Vale of Evesham School is a Specialist School for Cognition and Learning. The school caters for pupils who have moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties.

The school has a residential provision for weekly boarders, which ensures that we offer a 24-hour curriculum for up to 15 pupils. Many of our pupils have other barriers to their learning including autism, challenging behaviour, physical disabilities and complex health needs.   

Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday evenings, and Tuesday to Friday mornings, with some Monday to Friday daytime working, on a set shift pattern, below is an example of the hours: 

Monday      3.00pm–10.00pm

Tuesday          7.00am-9:30am & 2.00pm-10.00pm

Wednesday    7.00am-9:30am & 3.00pm–10.00pm

Thursday 7.00am-9.00am & 3.00pm-8.00pm

Friday          7.00am – 9:30am

Plus 1.5 hours per week administration time.

Teaching Assistant

We are looking for inspirational and outstanding teaching assistants with a commitment for improving outcomes for young children with significant learning needs.

Applicants will need to be unrelentingly positive in the face of adversity, possess high levels of energy and enthusiasm, and the ability to work in an ever-changing environment.  

The successful candidates will:   

  • Have an NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification
  • Have good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Have knowledge of child development
  • Understand the varied needs of children as they develop socially and academically.
  • Have evidence of understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
  • Have an ability to be flexible to the needs of the children.
  • Be able to use ICT to store and retrieve data.
  • Have a willingness to learn and take on new ideas

Hours of work will be (with half an hour lunch break each day):

Monday           8.45am – 4.30pm

Tuesday          8.45am – 3.30pm

Wednesday     8.45am – 3.45pm

Thursday         8.45am – 3.30pm

Friday              8.45am – 3.15pm
