Forest School at The Vale of Evesham
Pupils at the Vale of Evesham School have been lucky enough to have access to Forest School on the curriculum since 2003.
We have four trained and qualified forest leaders at the moment with another member of staff starting training soon.
We have a variety of sites that we can use for forest school, a huge area of woodland at Church Lench, an area attached to Simon De Montfort High school and an environmental area alongside Simon De Montfort middle school. The areas are all very different. The area at Church Lench is vast with a variety of trees, plants and wildlife. Everybody is always very excited when we spot the deer. The more local areas at Simon De Montfort School are smaller, but they have a stream running through and a pond.
The children participate in a variety of activities at Forest school, observing the changing seasons through the weather and the plant life, following trails, bug hunting, den building, obstacle courses and bridge making. The older pupils learn how to keep safe near fires when we toast marshmallows.
